What is it?
Zero Waste Day is a global initiative promoted and created by Grupo PROMESA, celebrated on April 16th. This year marks the 6th edition where thousands of people worldwide participate.
This initiative was born since every single thing we throw away -digital or physical – has a real impact. Trash doesn’t disappear: it accumulates, consumes energy, takes up space and keeps demanding resources that the planet can no longer provide at the same rate.
Reducing what we generate is a single but powerful way to care for the ecosystems, save energy, and protect the health and dignity of people.
2026 Challenge
This year, Zero Waste Day places a special emphasis on something we hardly see, but which also pollutes: digital waste.
Emails, files, and photos that we no longer use remain in data centers that operate 24/7, consume large amounts of energy, use water for cooling, and generate emissions.
